Minutes for the; Lancaster, Morecambe and District Ladies Bowling League

Committee Meeting Thursday 25^th May 2023 at Skerton Liberal club

 

1. Lorna Opened the meeting by thanking and welcoming everyone.
2. Clubs represented were: Bolton-Le-Sands, Carnforth A, Cumberland View @ Trimple (CV@T), Galgate, Hornby, Silverdale, Skerton Lib, Bare A, Bare B, Overton, Slyne with Hest, Warton.
3. Apologies: Morecambe Ladies, Bowling Green, Carnforth B and Jacqui Lloyd
4. Minutes of 6^th October were circulated and due to the date being wrong will be deferred until the next meeting.
5. Secretary report, Lesley confirmed once again that our online system needs Captains to review and notify her of any changes with their team members on the system ensuring that the correct name and official number is listed. Lesley requested that all Captains Email, Text or Phone with any corrections/changes/additions asap. When entering Walkovers please note that if no players from both teams are playing a Walkover option should be chosen for both teams and please do not list as unlisted players as this causes problems for me and the system.
6. Treasurers report, Jacque was unable to attend and will give a report for the next meeting.
7. Competition Secretary report, Lorna reposted that the Silverdale random doubles is now full and has 4 reserves. Tea/Coffee and cakes will be on offer, however all participants should bring their own lunch etc. Raffle prizes are required by all entrants. Cut off day today. President’s doubles, 24 pairs so far and cut off date 10^th June. Draw will be online Monday night. There will be no food at Skerton for the president’s doubles.
8. AOB, Members were reminded that the Presidents’ singles Handicap (Page 3 Rule 17 applies), money and names are required for the next meeting. This meeting was kept short due to circumstances beyond the club’s control.

Committee Meeting Thursday 6^th April 2023 at Skerton Liberal club

 

1. Pauline Townson Opened the meeting by Welcoming everyone.
2. Clubs represented were: Bolton-Le-Sands, Bowling Green, Carnforth A, Cumberland View @ Trimple (CV@T), Galgate, Hornby, Silverdale, Skerton Lib, Bare A, Bare B, Carnforth B, Morecambe Ladies, Overton, Slyne with Hest, Warton.

No Apologies were received.

1. Minutes of 6^th October were circulated and due to the date being wrong will be deferred until the next meeting.
2. Secretary report, Lesley confirmed that our online system needs Captains to review and reposrt any changes with their team members on the system ensuring that the correct name and official number is listed. Lesley requested that all Captains Email, Text or Phone with any corrections/changes/additions asap.
3. Treasurers report, Jacque confirmed the total in bank £817.29 with some cash in hand, plus some £250 approx in today for competitions. Jacque has been handed a large cup that has names on but no one is sure where it came from and information is sought.
4. Competition Secretary report, Lorna reposted that the Social held at Galgate was very poorly attended out of 150 listed Lady members only 24 players turned up; while some had valid reasons, bad weather put a lot of members off. This was very disappointing to the organisers who spent a lot of time and effort to have these Social events happen. However, on a positive note the raffle was well supported and it took some time to draw. There are 23 pairs for the Jean Scargill Cup cut off this Saturday 8^th at 5pm. Draw will be online from Sunday.
5. AOB, as previously agreed, see page 16 item 11, the first games of the season should be last years aggregate order for all teams apart from Slyne with Hest, who will have turn of the card as they did not enter a team last year. A discussion over the rules was made and Lorna clarified some points relating to Rule 16. Please note it was an oversight not to be mentioned at the AGM at it was previously agreed. Confirmation was made regarding Rule 11.

Committee Meeting Thursday 10^th February 2023 at Skerton Liberal club

 

1. Lesley Gaulter Opened the meeting by Welcoming everyone.
2. Clubs represented were: Bolton-Le-Sands, Bowling Green, Galgate, Slyne with Hest, Hornby, Skerton Lib, Carnforth A, Bare A & B, Morecambe Ladies, Silverdale, Warton, Cumberland View @ Trimple (CV@T) Overton.

Apologies were received from: Elaine Ellis our New President who has Covid.

1. Minutes of 6^th October were circulated and agreed as a true record proposed by Mags Parrington and Seconded by Kath Atkinson.
2. The missing Trophy has resurfaced and been given to Linda Murie
3. Secretary report, Lesley confirmed that our online system has been rolled over to 2023 and Captains were asked to check that all their team members were on the system with the correct name and official number. Lesley requested that all Captains Email, Text or Phone with any corrections/changes/additions asap.
4. Treasurers report, Jacque confirmed the total in bank £527.29, this does not include payments received today, from Clubs and advertisers. Thanks were received from Air Ambulance NW, Trigeminal Neuralgia Association and Lifeboats,  Morecambe & Heysham branch, for the donations they received from the district.
5. Competition Secretary report, Lorna reposted that the fixture list was a lengthy process do to various factors, not least waiting to see if Milnthorpe would be joining us this year. We contacted Milnthorpe who we were told wanted to enter a ladies team but unfortunately they did not come back with a team in time to add them to our league. Lorna saved 4 pages, this has kept the cost of the printing down again this year. We only have 500 score cards printed, as this is  sufficient for the league all teams should be mindful of using both sides of their score sheets; as we no longer have double markers and have scores displayed during play.

Lorna gave out 12 Books to each Club and Score cards; 26 to the 2^nd division and 30 to the 1^st division. These should be enough for the season if used correctly. Lorna has extra copies at a cost of £1.00 per book for anyone who wishes to purchase them, please contact Lorna direct.

Fran asked all 1^st division Captains to remember that Cumberland View are now playing at Trimple Green.

A reminder was given that the Jacobs Join Social Gathering at Galgate on 5^th April is starting at 11am; please remember each entrant should bring a raffle prize to the minimum of £2.
