Competition Rules

CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS INVITATIONAL HANDICAP

£2.00 GREENAGE TO BE PAID by players but there is NO entry fee.

The qualifying round of the competition will be seeded.

The competition will be played over two Saturday's in April. A qualifying round, with staggered starting times, on the first Saturday and then the final 8 on the finals day.

The league secretary will invite one player from each club in the association based on their top average's player plus other associations cups and division average's winners. The league secretary will aim for a minimum of 32 players to enter the competition based on the previous seasons results. 

Pot 1 will consist of a minimum of 16 players made up from the highest averages player from each of the division one teams, the previous seasons individual cups and division one average winner. Four players from Pot 1 will qualify for the finals day.

Pot 2 will consist of a minimum of 16 players made up from the highest averages player from each of the remaining division's teams. Four players from Pot 2 will qualify for the finals day.

If the invited players do not wish to or unavailable to enter, the secretary will invite a replacement player based on the final division averages table to make up any shortfall in the 32 players.

Players Handicaps will be based on the previous seasons divisions and the players previous seasons results.

All games will be 21 up with the players handicap added to the card at the start of the game.

The final 8 players who qualify will be drawn out of the hat on the finals day to determine the playing order. No seeding will take place for the draw on finals day.

 

JIM AINSWORTH MERIT and SECTIONS 2 & 3 MERITS

GREENAGE TO BE PAID WITH ENTRY MONIES BY TEAM SECRETARY 

 
1.       Entrance Fee: £ 2.50 for all players, plus £ 2.00 greenage.
2.       Games 21-up.  Played under BCGBA Rules.
3.       Choice of greens decided by the Executive Committee.
4.       Referees to be appointed by the Executive.
5.       Scratching time will be as advertised by the Competition Secretary.
6.       Games commenced but not completed will be re-played from the score as it stood when abandoned.
7.       Final to be played on a neutral green.
8.       Anything not provided for by these rules will be dealt with by the Executive committee.

 
THE ABEL CUP COMPETITION

GREENAGE TO BE PAID WITH ENTRY MONIES BY TEAM SECRETARY 

 
1.       Handicap to be decided by the Handicap matrix which is being used from the 2024 season onwards.
2.       Rules 1 to 8 of Merit Competitions to apply.

 THE MURPHY CUP / DE-KNOOP CONSOLATION HANDICAP

 
1.       Open to all clubs affiliated to the Association
2.       Entrance fee to be £ 15 and MANDATORY.  Any team not wishing to enter MUST notify the League Secretary prior to the draw for first matches.
3.       Played under League Rules on neutral greens.
4.       No practice is allowed after the green has been decided.
5.       Teams playing in the SEMI-FINALS and FINAL MUST only play bowlers who have played FIVE previous games during that season.
6.       In the event of a drawn game the last game on the green to come off will play ONE more end to decide the winners.
7.      If a player has already played for another club in either competition during the same season, then he/she is ineligible to represent a new club i.e. transferred player.

 THE TUDOR TROPHY PAIRS COMPETITION

GREENAGE TO BE PAID WITH ENTRY MONIES BY TEAM SECRETARY

 
1.       Played under floodlights in September.
2.       Interchange of leading players allowed.
3.       No substitutes after first round.
4.       Played under BCGBA Rules.
5.       Entrance Fee: £ 5.00 per pair

6.       No pairs to change date of play, interchange of ONE partner allowed on first game only.
