Welcome to the Malpas Seniors Bowling League Results site.

This is an over 60's afternoon bowling league with most league matches played on Wednesday afternoons at 2pm.

Looking forward to 2024 the management committee is keen to rebuild the strength of the league back up to its pre-pandemic level of 3 divisions. We would therefore like to invite current member clubs to consider entering an extra team in 2024 and any new or returning clubs falling within the 13 mile radius of Malpas in Cheshire and who have capacity to play on Wednesday afternoons, to apply to join the league. For an informal chat or to formally apply, please contact the League Secretary using the above contact details.

We also run a number of cup competitions during the course of a season. These are:

The Colin Paxton Trophy - an individual doubles tournament where you draw for partners.
The Ann Guinney Cup - Individual Singles (Ladies).
The Dick Allen Cup - Individual Singles (Gents).
Then there are up to 3 Team Doubles tournaments depending on the number of Divisions in the League in any given year. These are:
Division 1 - Cliff & Mary Cup.
Division 2 - Jim & Ivy Cup.
Division 3 - Jeff Carter Cup.

Speak to your Captain for more information or check out the Competitions information page.

Latest information:

Wed 27th Sep

Finals Day  was held earlier today at the Malpas Farmers Club when the Finals were played for the Anne Guinney Ladies Singles Competition and the Dick Allen Gents Singles Competition. The Colin Paxton semis and final were also played. We had a very nice buffet lunch after the singles finals and before the Colin Paxton Final.

When all the bowling was complete, trophies and prizes were presented to the winners and runners up by our President Roger Done. Congratulations to our winners on the day:
Anne Guinney - Jane Peak.
Dick Allen - Trevor Roberts.
Colin Paxton - Olive Pass & Trevor Roberts.

All of the competition results can be found under the Competition Results button and a complete list of all winners and runners-up this season can be found under the NEW Honours Board link (on a phone you will find this under "Other pages").

That completes all of our bowling for this season. I look forward to seeing you all next season.

Keep an eye on the website in case there are any notices over the winter and for anyone who lives within travelling distance of Whitchurch there is always short mat bowling in the Whitchurh Civic Centre Sports Hall (yes it's still open), on Monday afternoon and evenings commencing 9th October 12:30 for 1:00 pm or 6:45pm for 7:00pm.

Wed 20th Sep

The Anne Guinney ladies singles were played today at Malpas BC&I and the Dick Allen mens singles at Malpas Farmers, up to and including the semi finals. The results are available under the Competitions Results button. Finals of both will be played on Finals Day as explained under "Important Dates" above. Anyone who plays in the League is welcome to come along on Finals Day next Wednesday as it is also League Prize Giving.

Mon 18th Sep

congratulations to Cunliffe A for winning Division 1 and to Chester Rd A for being runners up.

Congratulations also to Johnstown for winning Division 2 and to Malpas Farmers B for being runners-up.

Wed 26th Jul

Colin Paxton 2 was played today at Malpas Farmers. The weather was beautiful until about 2pm when it started drizzling. Then from about 3pm the rain got steadily heavier. Fortunately (for everyone else), there were only 2 games playing in the rain. Not so fortunate for them though. Congratulations to Peter Taylor & Fred Langdon and Olive Pass & Trevor Roberts who now proceed to the overall semi-finals on Finals Day on 27th September.

We also had to play 2 matches carried forward from Colin Paxton 1 and they were completed at 10am before the other matches started. So congratulations to Jen Roberts & Frank Jones and Dave Salisbury & Alan French who also progress to the overall semi-finals on 27th September.

Many thanks to everyone from the host club - Malpas Farmers who helped the day run smoothly and provided light refreshments. Many hands make light work. Special thanks to Gill Chesters who helped make my job easy.

I forgot, AGAIN, to take photographs. I think we need to appoint an official photographer!

Thu 6th Jul

Cliff & Mary team doubles (Division 1): Congratulations to Malpas Farmers A who won the final of the Cliff & Mary competition today at Farndon.

Jim & Ivy team doubles (Division 2): Congratulations to Johnstown who won the final of the Jim & Ivy competition today at Farndon.

Wed 17th May

Colin Paxton 1 was played today at Farndon BC. The sun shone on us and from my perspective at least, we had a lovely day. There was a very good turn-out with 34 players making up 17 pairs. So good in fact that we had to finish for the day after the quarter final round. The plan is to play the semi finals at 10:00am immediately BEFORE Colin Paxton 2 at Malpas Farmers on 26th July.

I was so busy playing, I completely forgot to take any photos, so if anybody did take any please email them to me Chris Quinlan and I'll put the best on the website.

Many thanks to Chris Nevitt (Competitions Secretary) and Farndon Bowling Club for hosting and special thanks to those Members who made food. Especial thanks to the lady who made the lemon cake! You know who you are!

IT problems now resolved and results up to and including the quarters are now under the Competition Results button.
