Thank you - all Club Secretaries have now let me know how many teams they plan to enter in the League (30 March). I have now set up the schedule for the Stamford League on this website. Please note that this will be provisional until it has been checked. SF.

Stamford League 2026: This season, the Stamford League will have two divisions, with 13 teams in each division.
The schedule for the Stamford League has now been posted on this website. Please note that this schedule is PROVISIONAL and check the fixtures carefully.
Boor & Wainwright Competition:
The schedule for the B&W competition has now been set up on the Hugo Fox website (under 'What Do We Do? - Boor & Wainwright Shield Competition - B&W Round Robin 2026'). Please check carefully: teams in Groups A and B should have 2 byes and either 3H + 2A matches or 2H + 3A matches, teams in Groups C and D should have 1 bye + 3H + 3A matches. The first match will be played on Friday 1st May. The results tables have now been set up on this website.
PLEASE NOTE THAT GREETHAM VALLEY EAGLES (GROUP C) WILL BOWL ALL THEIR HOME MATCHES AT STAMFORD TOWN BOWLS CLUB.

Please ensure that at least one representative from your club attends this meeting, with team registration list(s) and fees (registration fees £10 per team + £2 per player) plus fees for Boor & Wainwright competition (£10 per team).

Start date for B&W competition.
Because we have lost one team, the B&W will now start on Friday 1st May, to allow for the reduced numbers and to give clubs more time to prepare their greens after the very wet winter. We will bowl on the early May Bank Holiday (4th May) but not the late May Bank Holiday (25th May).

I apologise that some teams have 3 consecutive home matches in one half of the schedule and 3 consecutive away matches in the other half; I have been unable to deconflict these within the constraints of green availability.

Phil Hoare: Chairman, Stamford & District Bowls League
We are sad to report that Phil Hoare, chairman of Stamford & District Bowls League, died on Wednesday morning (March 25) at Peterborough & District Hospital, aged 80. A former sports editor of Peterborough Evening Telegraph he was a keen cricketer, playing in Devon - his home county - Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. In later years he was a member of Ketton Bowls Club and Stamford Indoor Bowls Association. We will advise you of the funeral arrangements when they are known.
