Oscar sadly died yesterday evening. Oscar was a much loved and valued member of Ellesmere Bowling Club. Oscar was also well known within the bowls community and sure to be missed by many.

W.G. Roberts Cup and Burton Cup
Due to the WG Cup going missing, and the Roberts family not wanting it to be replaced the Management Committee have decided that the Burton Cup which was not well supported when played for should take the place of the WG Cup Competition with the same rules.

From the AGM Meeting for the 2026 season
The outcome of matches and league positions will now be decided by total points scored meaning every point scored by each player will count, the new system will be based for example on the Malpas League system and several others throughout the country.
This proposition was passed by a big majority of votes cast by clubs at the 2025 AGM meeting

Burton Cup
The Burton cup was the second most prestigious cup in Wales after the Welsh Senior Merit and has been played for since 1930 all be it there are some gaps in the records, it is not known whether it was played for in those years or the cup just wasn't engraved, if anyone has any knowledge of those years please let us know, the new tab for the winners is on the left hand side at the bottom.
