JEFF JONES
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jeff Jones on Wednesday 25th March 2026, aged 69. Jeff played for many clubs in the Wrexham league throughout his 50 plus years of bowling, and made so many friends on the bowls circuit. Plas Kynaston, Flexsys, Rhos, Ifton, Ruabon, Ponciau park, Chirk and Johnstown, to name a few, all benefitted from having Jeff at their club. He always went out of his way to help new bowlers, especially youngsters, giving advice and guidance on how to play the game. His personality around the greens will be sorely missed.
Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Jeff's family and friends. Rest in peace Jeff
TONY (OSCAR) JOHNSON
Oscar sadly died yesterday evening. Oscar was a much loved and valued member of Ellesmere Bowling Club. Oscar was also well known within the bowls community and sure to be missed by many.
Oscar's funeral is being held on Wednesday 8th April- 12.30 pm at St Mary's Church, Ellesmere, then 13 30 at Pentrebychan Crematorium, followed up at Ellesmere Comrades Club, Ellesmere.
From the AGM Meeting for the 2026 season
The outcome of matches and league positions will now be decided by total points scored meaning every point scored by each player will count, the new system will be based for example on the Malpas League system and several others throughout the country.
This proposition was passed by a big majority of votes cast by clubs at the 2025 AGM meeting
